Knowing Eau Claire in 2 wheels

On 2nd July in a beauty sunny day our group went to the biking route. At first we took our bikes at EAC and tested it, we rode it for 5 minutes and checked if it is properly working.

We think that ride our bikes around the city is very important in behalf of our knowledge because walk along the streets to know what is around us is very tiring and we could not get far from the university. So we united this group compose by Daniel Heinze, Juliane Turcovic, Gabriel Chaves and Matheus Mordorst to go to some important points of Eau Claire.
We left chancellor’s hall and we rode toward Putnam Drive, a great route for bicycles. There are a lot of trees and wild life to enjoy while you ride that calm way.

In the middle of Putnam Dr. there is the Putnam Park State Natural Area next to our university. It contains a forest with a diverse flora and fauna including a state-threatened plat. With varied topography, bedrock exposures, seepage springs, and a variety of soil types all in close proximity, Putnam Park possesses many plant and animal habitats.

We kept going in Putnam Dr. and some houses started to be seen. It was big houses that we rarely see in Brazil. Besides that some rebel motorcycles passed in our side.
Our next stop point was a bridge over the Chippewa River. There were some fishermen without fishes and with a very sad faces.
At Lake Street we reached to outdoor theater, a good place to listen to live music and it was crowded at that moment. Not far from that point we started to climb up a hill and Gabriel disrespected the cycle rules and overran us riding on the middle of the street.
After the climb we got to Carson Park, the place that we were to see the baseball game 2 days after the bicycle ride. There was a minor league team training inside.

Suddenly a statue of a wild blue ox and a lumberjack appeared and Christine taught us how to spell correctly the word Ox, some funny photos and a quickly history explanation about Paul Bunyan and babe the Blue Ox was gave to us.

And finally we went to a running and biking trail and at some random place in the river shore we started to throw rocks and playing skipping stones, we spent a good time with this and even did a challenge that Daniel won.

And by this spent time the girls were hurry that we fell behind, so we started to ride fast as we can and Daniel’s bike broke and we spent a little time fixing its chain.

We kept on this trail back to the university, keeping along the river course and up the hill, so we got back safe and sound and with a great back pain.

Estimated time: 2 Hours
Street/Trails condition: Good/Great
